Features
Wide ratio 5-speed transmission
A tri-shaft transmission layout vertically stacks the transmission shafts, raising the center shaft and forming a triangle between the crank, drive shaft and main shaft for a lighter, more compact transmission. Gear ratios are optimised for enduro conditions.
Optimised Ergos
A slim, flat and compact body eases rider movement for improved control, including seamless, rounded seat edges, side covers and narrow front shrouds. The optimised rider triangle allows for enhanced rider comfort between the seat and footpegs.
Powerful 450cc Engine
The WR450F's advanced compact four-stroke engine is higher revving and produces broad power across the entire rev range. Additionally, ECU settings are tailored to suit the specific needs of trail riding and enduro competition.
Toolless Fork Adjustment
WR450F's front fork features a hand operated compression clicker for simple, toolless adjustments. Front fork and rear shock settings are optimised for enduro competition. A 10mm lower seat height than the YZ450F provides a lower centre of gravity for improved low-speed manoeuvrability.
Bilateral beam frame
The aluminium bilateral beam frame has WR450F-specific engine mounts to produce the right combination of strength and flex for the perfect balance of straight-line stability and cornering performance. The result is a better handling machine with lighter feel, more agility and increased traction, allowing the rider to tackle tight, technical trails with greater confidence.
Smartphone Tuning
The free-of-charge Yamaha Power Tuner App brings the power of the GYTR® Power Tuner to an iOS® or Android® device, allowing owners to adjust air/fuel mixture and ignition timing, log race set-up information, and monitor a range of data such as maintenance and system diagnosis, engine run time, and more. The newest version of the app has been revised to be more user-friendly, with new features include an intuitive Simple Tuning slide bar for engine mapping, Traction Control tuning, lap timer, and helpful engine and suspension tuning guides.
On-The-Fly Engine Mapping Selection
The left handlebar-mounted switchgear allows the rider to quickly select between preloaded engine maps—loaded and configured in the Power Tuner App—to adjust for changing riding conditions. Map 1 provides more responsive, quicker revving engine characteristics while Map 2 provides smoother response and slower revving characteristics for when traction is limited.
Electric Starter System
The WR450F features a compact electric starter system to minimise restart delays in competition and add convenience everywhere else. Powered by a high-capacity and lightweight four-cell lithium-ion battery, the system adds consistent performance and minimal weight.
Industry-leading suspension
The industry-leading, fully adjustable KYB® coil spring-type fork with speed-sensitive damping provides exceptional balance between handling and bump absorption, and features a hand operated compression clicker for toolless adjustments. The linkage type rear suspension uses a KYB® shock with specially-tuned damping characteristics to match the WR450F chassis. These settings result in a 10mm lower seat height than YZ450F and lower centre of gravity for improved cornering performance and rider comfort in technical sections.
High performance braking
A large 270mm front brake disc and 240mm rear are coupled with high performance Nissin caliper and aggressive pad material to provide exceptional stopping power and control.
Rider Convenience
WR450F features enduro-developed components including 7.4 litre fuel capacity with fuel, multi-function meter with fuel and engine warning lights, 18-inch rear wheel, composite engine guard, sealed O-ring chain and a folding aluminium kickstand. The Australian delivered model comes fully ADR compliant with indicators, rear view mirrors, handguards and more.
